Product Description
A recent Fire Marshall inspection dinged your facility for insufficient emergency egress lighting. Turns out a bunch of your steel bug-eye fixtures failed their battery discharge test, and some are so corroded by ruptured battery acid that they need to be completely replaced. These old battery backup lights used heavy and inefficient sealed lead acid AGM type batteries that were used far long than their 5-year lifespan, and now the boss is breathing down your neck to buy exit lights with longer lasting batteries, yet still enough capacity to power up to four floodlights. What do you do?
Your best solution is our 200W Steel Emergency Light with up to 200W of capacity rated for a 90-minute runtime. These models include two (2) top-mounted PAR36-Style 18-watt incandescent lamp heads, molded from impact-resistant thermoplastic in a matching color. Multiple packs of AAA-sized nickel cadmium batteries inside the 20-gauge steel enclosure matches the capacity of heavier SLA batteries, accommodating up to two (15) additional 9W remote heads placed away from the parent unit.
Mounting
A convenient mounting pattern and several key hole slots are stamped on the rear of the steel housing, with conduit knockouts on the sides of each unit. One advantage of using Ni-Cd battery cells over SLA is a the compact and lightweight cabinet (only 20 lbs) which allows the fixture to mount to just about any surface without a mounting shelf. This also brings down shipping costs considerably.
Battery Testing
The RS12N-200-T1218-2-W includes memory-free 12 volt nickel cadmium battery packs. Ni-Cd lasts 8-10 years of continuous use (compared to 5-7 years with SLA), have a higher tolerance to cold weather and there is no chance of acid spillage. The batteries are rated to keep the lighting heads illuminated for at least 90 minutes, and requires only 24-hours to fully re-charge. Periodic CSA-mandated testing is accomplished via a push-to-test switch on the side of the cabinet and allows maintenance personnel to quickly observe the operational status of the fixture and lamp load. Above the switch is a dual diagnostic LED display indicating AC/ON and High Charge.
