Product Description

A severe ice storm wreaks havoc on your assisted living facility, knocking out several of the aging steel bug-eye emergency lights in the building corridors. These hulking steel battery boxes have been in the facility since it first opened, making it now impossible to discern what the battery voltage or amp-hours were.  Add to that, the original manufacturer has been out of business for decades. Luckily, you know these fixtures once powered six additional PAR-style remote floodlights strung by low voltage wire into the adjacent patient rooms and restrooms. Is that enough information, you ask?

Our answer is YES, because the 12V 360W Steel Emergency Light carries a whopping 360W load of capacity rated for the UL-mandated 90-minute runtime. This model includes two (2) top-mounted PAR36-Style 18-watt incandescent lighting heads, molded from impact-resistant thermoplastic in a matching color. Multiple 12V SLA batteries in this 20-gauge steel egress fixture can accommodate (27) or more 9W remote heads placed away from the parent unit.

Mounting

A pre-fabricated mounting pattern and several key hole slots are stamped on the back of the steel housing, and includes conduit knockouts on the sides. Due to the weight (approximately 65 lbs) certain wall types may require a separate mounting shelf that you can also buy on EmergencyLight.net by calling 800-282-5600, through email or chat.

Battery Testing

The RS12-360-T1218-2-W is packaged with a maintenance free 12 volt sealed valve regulated lead acid battery. The battery is rated to keep the 9W Par36 heads illuminated for at least 90 minutes, and requires only 24-hours to fully re-charge. Since periodic CSA readiness tests are required by law, a push-to-test switch on the side of the housing allows maintenance personnel to quickly observe the operational status of the fixture and lamp load. Above the switch is a dual diagnostic LED display indicating AC/ON and High Charge.
