Those ugly "bug-eye" boxes once required you to climb a ladder and test each one every month…with close to twenty-five units throughout the expansive facility. Luckily, you can now work on more critical tasks while the 12V 50W Class 1 and 2 Div 2 Emergency Light with Audible Self-Testing does all the maintenance work for you.
The STC50-ZL-2-IC-TA is a completely non-metallic harsh location emergency light that uses a patented microprocessor to monitor the battery and lamps at all times. This chip also performs scheduled monthly and bi-annual maintenance protocols, satisfying OSHA laws. And if a fault is detected, the STC50 will tell you with a loud, unmistakable alarm!
Construction
Instead of a metal or plastic housing, the STC50-ZL-2-IC-TA is constructed with a fiberglass reinforced polycarobonate cabinet that is impervious to corrosion and sun-damage. An industrial gray finish is standard. The battery and internal components can be accessed via a hinged and gasketed door on the front of the battery box. A view through window box allows you to monitor components without having to break the seal.
Each 12V 50W Class 1 and 2 Div 2 Emergency Light with Audible Self-Testing model we sell is individually tested in the factory to UL844 Hazardous Location standards, as well as a series of brutal wash-down tests to ensure the gaskets and housing stay completely sealed.
Light Source
This model includes two (2) top-mounted 12-watt sealed beam halogen Par36-style heads. These waterproof heads are fully-adjustable and molded from impact-resistant thermoplastic in a grey color.
This unit provides enough capacity to power two (2) additional 12-watt remote heads.
Battery & Testing
A semi-sealed 12 volt Lead Calcium battery is Included. This gel-type power source does not require top-offs with water and does not spill excess gas or corrode like conventional lead calcium. Spare LC batteries can be stored on the shelf for over 20 years, and last about 5-Years when powering the ST series.
Our patented auto-diagnostic circuit continuously monitors the operating condition of the unit, ensuring you are up to code at all times. The circuit tests the AC power supply, battery supply voltage, charging circuit board and the halogen lamps. When a failure is detected in the unit, an LED indicator on the side of the unit will change from solid green to a flashing red, indicating it needs attention. Aside from continuous monitoring, the circuit will perform automatic UL tests, including the monthly 30-second test and the semi-annual 90 minute diagnostic.
