Product Description
You are less than a month away from opening a cafeteria at the ground floor of a historic Downtown building. The outdated codes state you need emergency backup lights made out of metal, which means you can't get the cheap plastic emergency lights from China. You also need egress lighting in the bathrooms, hallways, kitchens and outdoors in the alley. Add to that, you have a few exit signs without battery backup. How do you keep from going bankrupt just buying emergency lights?
Our answer: buy a couple inexpensive remote floodlights and JUST ONE of our American-made 24V 280W Steel Emergency Light! The RS24-280-T2418-2-W carries a whopping 280W rated load for the UL-mandated 90-minute runtime. Not only will this beefy light power two (2) top-mounted PAR36-Style 18-watt incandescent lighting heads; it has enough juice to power nearby exit signs, fixtures and up to twenty-nine (27) 9W remote heads!
Mounting
Due to the weight (approximately 65 lbs) of the cabinet and 24V AGM battery, certain wall types may require a separate mounting shelf which you can purchase through EmergencyLight.net by calling 800-282-5600, through email or chat.
For standard hard-wire and 277V latching, a pre-fabricated mounting pattern and several key hole slots are stamped on the back of the steel housing, and includes conduit knockouts on the sides. By choosing the Cord Set (CS) option, a three-prong plug suitable for any 120V outlet will be installed to the battery box (NOTE: lead time will increase).
Battery Testing
To comply with UL, OSHA and CSA readiness mandates, a push-to-test switch on the side of the housing allows maintenance personnel to quickly observe the operational status of the fixture and lamp load. Above the switch is a dual diagnostic LED display indicating AC/ON and High Charge.
By selecting the Autotest (AT) option, your steel emergency light will include a microprocessor that constantly monitors the status of the battery voltage, input voltage, lamps, battery and switching circuitry. Autotest will also perform a 30-second test monthly and a 90-minute test every six months, per code. This option greatly reduces maintenance costs and informs personnel the second a fault is detected, which might otherwise fail an inspection or harm occupants.
