Product Description
A recent power outage in your health club revealed a dangerous flaw in your escape plan. After power was restored and the emergency lights switched off, the HID highbay fixtures in the basketball and handball courts stayed dim for almost ten minutes, causing several occupants to trip over equipment and run into walls. You realize this is due to the warm-up time required for the gas-discharge lighting to reach full luminance. You wonder, "How can I make these things stay on longer, even after the power comes back on?"
The short answer is YOU CAN'T. You can, however, buy our 24V 360W Steel Emergency Light, with a three-year factory warranty and a whopping 360 watts rated load per UL-mandated 90-minute runtime. This 24-volt emergency lighting unit has two (2) top-mounted PAR36-Style 9-watt incandescent lighting heads, with almost 342 watts of extra juice to power other fixtures, exit signs or up to thirty-eight (38) 9W remote heads!
And by selecting the Time Delay (TD) option the RS24-360-T2418-2-W will remain on after normal AC power is restored in the building. Just specify if you want a 5, 10 or 20 minute time-delay.
Mounting
A convenient mounting pattern and several key hole slots are stamped on the back of the steel housing, and includes conduit knockouts on the sides. Due to the weight (approximately 75 lbs) of the cabinet and 24V AGM battery, certain wall types may require you to purchase a separate mounting shelf, which you can buy through emergencylight.net by calling 800-282-5600, via email or by chat.
Battery Testing
To comply with UL, OSHA and CSA readiness mandates, a push-to-test switch on the side of the housing allows maintenance personnel to quickly observe the operational status of the fixture and lamp load. Above the switch is a dual diagnostic LED display indicating AC/ON and High Charge.
By selecting the Autotest (AT) option, your 20-gauge steel emergency light will be equipped with a microprocessor that constantly monitors the status of the battery voltage, input voltage, lamps, battery and switching circuitry. Autotest will also perform a 30-second test monthly and a 90-minute test every six months, per code. This option greatly reduces maintenance costs and informs personnel the second a fault is detected, which might otherwise fail an inspection or harm occupants.
