Product Description
During the design phase of a brand new transit hub, it is your job as Project Manager to find cost-effective, value-engineered solutions to the fixtures listed on the fixture schedule. The plans call for 12V outdoor-rated backup lighting along your platforms, rail yards and tilt-up facilities, which are often prone to harsh weather and water hosedowns. You realize these emergency lights are going to be very heavy and require expensive battery swap outs.
There is a solution: ditch the huge case and need for several 12 volt SLA batteries and choose the 24V Wet Location Emergency Light with Lead Acid Battery to bring down maintenance and shipping costs.
Construction
Instead of a steel or plastic housing, the IEL-24-360-2LR-9W is constructed with a fiberglass cabinet that is resistant to corrosion and sun-damage. An industrial gray finish is standard, and there are several terminal connectors on the housing flanks to connect remote flood lights. Each unit is individually tested in the factory to NEMA 4X standards, where a series of brutal wash-down tests to ensure the gaskets and housing remain sealed and intact.
This model includes two (2) top-mounted 9-watt wedge base incandescent, Par36-style heads. These heads are fully-adjustable and molded from impact-resistant thermoplastic in a black color. A single 24V Sealed Lead Acid battery inside carries a 360W load rated at 90 minutes (equal to three or four 12V batteries), so you can remotely power other fixtures, exit signs or up to nineteen (19) 18W remote heads (or 38x 9W heads).
Battery Testing
A hinged front door allows access to the battery and switching circuits inside this 24V NEMA 4X industrial emergency lighting unit. It comes with a single 24V Sealed Lead Acid battery, which allows this high-powered unit to use a more economical case. Best of all you only have to swap out ONE battery every 7 years instead of FOUR!
To comply with OSHA-mandated testing and battery maintenance, a push-to-test switch on the side of the housing allows maintenance personnel to quickly ascertain the operational status of the fixture and lamp load. Above the switch is a dual diagnostic LED display indicating AC/ON and High Charge. Ask about our Autotest feature as well!
