Product Description
As the plant manager of a Custom Plastic Extrusion company, you've been given the company card to find a few exit signs and emergency lights to pass the upcoming inspection. You need a exit lighting thats built tough, has a high tolerance to heat and, most importantly, hermetically sealed to prevent causing an explosion. You also need a solution that won't bankrupt the company.
In this scenario (deemed Class I Division 2 by the NEC) you can save installation and fixture costs with the Hazardous Location Exit Light Combo. It includes battery backup, keeping the red or green 'EXIT' legend running long after a power outage. The SVX-H12H-R-D-2-MW also features two (2) field-adjustable sealed MR16 lamp heads for lighting an egress pathway. This two-in-one fixture is ideal for hazardous industrial locations where explosive plastic fumes are sometimes present in the working environment.
The SVX-C-H12H-R-D-2-MW comes with (2) 20W Halogen High-Output MR16 lamps which is powered by a 12V 40W Nickel-Metal Hydride battery which provides 90 minutes of emergency power. This combo features self-diagnostic testing which automates monthly testing requirements. UL924 Listed for the US.
Construction
The SVX-C-H12H-R-D-2-MW is constructed with a 1/8" thick aluminum backplate that will not dent, peel or corrode. The 'EXIT' faceplate is made of polyvinyl chloride, and includes a gasket that prevents liquid or gas ingress to the sign. Tamper resistant screws seal the faceplate to the backplate, creating a seal around the battery, circuits and LED strip inside.
This Hazardous Location Exit Light Combo model has two (2) bottom mount 20-watt MR16 High-Output lamps which can be adjusted to illuminate any escape pathway. The lamps are sealed by a gasketed polycarbonate shield.
Battery
This SVX-C-H12H-R-D-2-MW model includes a rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery pack. It provides emergency backup power to the exit sign for at least 90 minutes, and only requires 48-hours to fully recharge. NiMH batteries have the longest lifespan (8 to 10 years), compared to conventional nickel-cadmium and lead-acid emergency light batteries.
Since UL, OSHA and all city Fire Codes require monthly operational tests, the Self Testing feature is an obvious time and cost saving solution for maintenance teams. It will constantly monitor the battery, circuits and LEDs as well as perform a 30-second test monthly and a 90-minute power failure test every six months. An LED indicator light will flash red if any fault is detected, alerting maintenance personnel.
