Construction
Our utilitarian MHD226542UEM is constructed with a 3/16" thick PET plastic housing reinforced with fiberglass. The housing is naturally industrial gray, and features two (2) A360 aluminum hubs for conduit entry. Two (2) steel mounting feet are included for convenient ceiling installation.
Our Explosion Proof 4-Foot 2-Lamp 32W T8 Light with Emergency Backup has a 1/8" thick semi-clear acrylic lens, held by stainless steel locking latches. Unlike your typical vaporproof fluorescent fixtures, the lens on the MHD2 has reinforced corners which are better at surviving impact, both in the field during shipping.
A silicon gasket creates an airtight seal between the lens and the housing, and gives it an IP66 watertight rating.
Light Source
The MHD226542UEM uses two (2) standard 4' 32W T8 fluorescent tubes (not included). These fluorescent tubes are inexpensive, can be found everywhere and last twice as long as inefficient incandescent lamps.
Emergency Ballast
In the event of a power failure, the MHD2 secondary emergency ballast kicks in and keeps the lamps on at a reduced light output. Runtime is no less than 90 minutes when fully charged.
The housing includes a sealed LED indicator light/test switch for performing scheduled maintenance.

Other Details
