Product Description

The Explosionproof Emergency Light is a UL Listed and OSHA compliant battery back-up fixture designed to operate in the most hazardous conditions, at locations where flammable petrochemical vapors and/or pulverized dust may exist. The XPEL Series is rated for Class I, Division 1, Groups C and D areas as well as Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F and G areas. It is explosion proof and is suitable for wet locations and for use aboard vessels and at locations such as gas plants, off-shore oil platforms, water treatment plants, and paint spray booths. This fixture comes standard with two (2) adjustable medium-beam, high output LED lumen spotlights. Options include a remote head assembly and narrow or wide beam optics.

External Specifications/Construction

The Explosionproof Emergency Light is an explosion proof emergency light fixture constructed of durable A360 aluminum with a baked-on epoxy finish, one-piece neoprene gasket, and stainless steel hardware. The XPEL fixture features wall, pendant, and end mounting options, hinged access door, and push-to-test and pilot light for local and remote heads. It operates in ambient temperatures of 50F/10C to 131F/55C.

Electrical Specifications

The Explosionproof Emergency Light features 120 through 277V 50/60HZ AC input. This fixture can power up to two (2) remote heads, each of which has a 5-watt max. The XPEL Series has a T6 temperature rating for both Class 1 and 2 environments. There is a 1-inch NPT conduit hub on either side of the unit, as well as on the top in the center.

Lamp Selection

The Explosionproof Emergency Light comes with two (2) high lumen LED spotlights, which are adjustable in both horizontal and vertical planes. Each lamp puts out 420 lumens with a CRI of 72. This allows for 30-foot center-to-center spacing with a 7.5-foot mounting height. The unit, which can also power up to two (2) optional remote spotlights, includes LED circuit boards which are field replaceable and drivers that feature quick disconnects. Medium beam spread is standard, with wide and narrow also available.

Battery Specifications

The Explosionproof Emergency Light features an integral emergency battery back-up, with a 3-hour emergency operation, which is twice the required run time of 90-minutes.

Code Compliance

The Explosionproof Emergency Light is UL Listed to 844, 1598, 8750, and 924 requirements and Marine Listed to UL 1598A Marine Outside Type (Salt Water) requirements. It also meets USCG Regulation 46 CFR Subparts 111.75-15(e) and 112.43 standards. In addition, it conforms with CUL, IP65, and NEMA 4X standards and is suitable for wet locations.

The Explosionproof Emergency Light comes with a 3-year factory warranty, excluding lamps.
