The Hazardous Location Exit Sign is Class 1 Division 2 rated, classifying the fixture as 'explosion-proof'. This Class 1 Division 2 exit sign includes battery backup and comes standard as a single-sided unit which is capable of back (wall) or top (ceiling) mounting. Double-sided models are available as is choice of red or green letters. The battery backup system operates the fixture for a minimum 90 minutes once power is lost. Self-Diagnostics are standard and eliminate monthly testing and make maintenance simple.

Construction

The SVX-NHZ-1-R-D is constructed with a 1/8" thick aluminum backplate that will not dent, peel or corrode. The 'EXIT' faceplate is made of polyvinyl chloride, and includes a gasket that prevents liquid or gas ingress to the sign. Tamper resistant screws seal the faceplate to the backplate, creating a seal around the battery, circuits and LED strip inside.

This Hazardous Location Exit Sign model has many options to choose from.  Choose between single or double face units. Choose Red or Green LED light sources, depending on your location and the other signs around. Also decide if you want a Ceiling or Wall Mount conduit bracket.

Battery

This SVX-NHZ-1-R-D model includes a rechargeable Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery pack. It provides emergency backup power to the exit sign for at least 90 minutes, and only requires 48-hours to fully recharge. Ni-Cd batteries have the highest heat tolerance compared to other emergency batteries.

Since UL, OSHA and all city Fire Codes require monthly operational tests, the Self-Diagnostics feature is an obvious time and cost saving solution for maintenance teams. It will constantly monitor the battery, circuits and LEDs as well as perform a 30-second test monthly and a 90-minute power failure test every six months. An LED indicator light will flash red if any fault is detected, alerting maintenance personnel.
